About the Project
Robyn Ward presents a new work ‘in progress’ at the House of Muse in New York - a piece the artist will work on daily after-hours and share with the public during the daytime to observe his artistic process, over the course of a 23-day residency.
Once finished, the physical work will be donated to the Contemporary Art Museum. A digital version of the artwork will be split into 1,000 unique NFTs (non-fungible tokens) available for purchase throughout the residency.
The final work will be concluded on September 30th, and only then will the image associated with the NFTs become visible to holders.
House of Muse has partnered with Tessera (previously Fractional.art) - a platform which enables users to participate in collective ownership of NFTs. With collective ownership increasing access to NFTs, Tessera has enabled 140,000 unique wallets globally to collectively own over 6,500 of the world’s most sought after NFTs.
The Artist: Robyn Ward
Born in Ireland and growing up in Northern Ireland, Ward’s timely and provocative body of work draws on historical and modern-day conflicts, as well as his own personal experience of chaos and destruction, calling out some of the most pressing issues of our time, from climate change to socio-economic injustice.
The artist’s multi-faceted canvases depict recurring images that are both concealed and revealed, told under a nostalgic veil of innocence and naivety, inviting us to reflect on our own realities. Having previously worked under multiple pseudonyms and collectives, Ward has recently broken the cover of anonymity, which has caught the attention of international media.
His work has been exhibited in various cities around the world from New York to Los Angeles, London, Paris and Hong Kong, and in renowned art institutions such as Museo Tamayo and Museo Nacional de Arte in Mexico City.
On the first floor of the venue, the artist also presents a selection of works in mixed media from the past decade, both figurative and abstract, in symbiosis, from series ‘F.A.B’ and ‘I, II, III, IV, V’. The last series is composed of expressive abstract paintings depicting a broad spectrum of events and dispositions; chapters of a larger narrative.
How to Purchase
Please follow the steps below if you wish to purchase an NFT from this project.
Step 1: Select the individual tile or tiles you’d like to purchase and Add to Basket. Tiles may be held in your basket for a total of 30 minutes, during which no one else can purchase them and after which they will be released if the purchase is not completed.
Step 2: Connect your wallet by following the instructions. If you do not have a wallet set up, or need help doing so, you can find helpful tutorials on that here
Step 3: Once your wallet is connected, locate the Basket icon in your uppermost right hand corner and click ‘Buy Now’
Step 4: Follow the instructions to complete your purchase. Once you have done this and your purchase has been completed, your NFT will automatically be added to your chosen wallet.
Step 5: Depending on when you’ve purchased your NFT, the final artwork may not yet be finalised. Once this has happened (post 30th September), the image associated with the NFT will become visible to holders.
